Trail Report 2-29-24
Rain happened. Snow is mostly gone unfortunately. Unless we get a large storm or two we'll be sticking a fork in this season. Trails closed.
Trail Report 2-2-24 ~ Pond Hockey Weekend Update
We were out last night all over town getting the system ready for the weekend.
The Good: The RR tracks packed in a bit. We went up without the drag to get a feel for how things looked. 90% is "good" from Waukewan to Ashland. The closer to Ashland the better. Definitely rideable. We are going to try and take the drag up the tracks tonight...this is weather dependant. The rest of the trail system is good/ marginal.
The Bad: We still haven't groomed 300 all the way to the campground due to unfrozen swamps. Mud holes and water bars should be expected everywhere Town Forrest from PhilBrook Ave to Waukewan is not good. It's passable if you don't mind skimming a little mud and running over a few rocks (see photos below)
Lastly, PLEASE be careful on the ice. Meredith Bay is not safe and Winnipesakee has not iced in.
Have fun this weekend and be safe!!
Trail Report 1-30-20
We received 4-6 inches of wet snow and it finally looks like full on winter out there. Most of the system has been groomed. We still aren't going all the way out 300 towards the campground due to the soft swamp.
The RR tracks still do not have enough cover to groom and we still have not broken open the town forest trail from Prescott Park to Waukewan. We are hoping to get in there before the weekend. There is riding to be had out there right now so go get it!
Trail Report 1/19/24
Here we go! The 2024 snowmobile season is here and our trail system is OPEN. Everything will be groomed 2 passes with the exception of trail 300 from 104 to the campground and the town Forest Trail from Plymouth Street to Waukewan Lake. There is still not enough snow to groom the RR tracks.
300 to the campground will be subject to the pond freezing on the north east side of Campground property. The Bayview Trail, Meetinghouse Trail, and 15 to Coe Hill was all groomed today.
Riding is marginal in some areas and good in others. Still a lot of thin spots and water bars. Photos here show the good, the bad, and the ugly. Consider all bodies of water NOT SAFE to pass at the moment.
Trail Report 1/8/24
We finally received snow! While it was more than anticipated, it was light and not near what we need to kick things off. There's more snow in the forecast so maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to get the groomer out soon. Until then,
trails are closed.
