Trail Report 3/15/23
TRAILS CLOSED
Sorry folks, but with this most recent storm THE Meredith area did not receive the snow needed to keep things going.
Trail Report 3/9/23
Last groomed Tuesday night 3/7, not grooming before the weekend due to minimal coverage to work with, warm days and high sun. Expect spring like conditions with waterbars on Corridor 15 in the Town Forest between Prescott Park and Lake Waukewan. Some rail showing on Corridor 8, the rail bed. Waterbars on Windsong trail between Livingston Road and Pickerel Pond.
TRAIL CLOSURES:
? Trail 300 by Chase Road is closed for the season.
? Logans Run, an ungroomed, unmaintained trail is closed. Primarily due to a large tree down further up the trail and recent notification from a private landowner alerting us of off trail riding in a large field directly off of Pemi Lake. The off trail riding occuring between Tuesday 3/7 and Wednesday 3/8. At this time the landowner will be considering closing this trail permanently for all future use FYI.
Trail Report 3/6/23
Grooming ceased Saturday night. Trails were well used yesterday, good to see people out enjoying them!
Cautions:
?Large water hole on the trail heading to Pickerel Pond
?2 large water bars in the town forest between Prescott Park and Lake Waukewan
With warm day temps yesterday, Sunday, and the remainder of this week forecasted w/warmer day temps, we will attempt to get out and groom in the colder evenings. Expect Spring like conditions with the high sun and warmer day temps.
Trail Report 3/5/23
All open trails have been groomed early this morning. Riders, take the opportunity, this will be the clubs best snow conditions this year. Safe riding, respect the trails and land owners.
*reminder trail 300 is closed in and around Chase road. Local access only in between Hatch Corner and Meredith Woods. No connection from downtown Meredith to Meredith woods campground on trail 300.
Trail report 3/3/23
Trailmaster grooming as this report is being written 8:32am. Attempting to groom railbed, trail 15 for a second time. All other trails including parts of railbed were groomed yesterday 3/2/23. Groomer may be able to get out tonight during the snow to continue. We are happy to see winter has returned.
Trail update 3/2/23
All open trails have been groomed. Expect great spring like conditions. Railbed (trail 15) has been groomed with minimum to moderate rail showing. Reminder 300 is closed between Hatch Corner rd and Meredith Woods.
Happy riding!
Trail Report 2/26/23
Trails are open! Mother nature has decided to deliver some snow for March. The groomer has been out and the snow is very fluffy. Coverage is thin. The rail bed is open but there will be exposed rail either direction. We have more snow coming this week and will have an updated report as we roll into the weekend.
Trail Report 2/17/23
Trails closed. The weather the past few days has been...less than ideal. We have more snow in the forecast and will open up as soon as mother nature allows.
Trail Report 2/3/23
Bruce, our trail master and Jim, our VP, each took a pass up the rail bed to Ashland in hopes of getting things nice and flat for the weekend. Lots of rails showing but they are rideable at the moment. Last night Jim groomed to the meeting house and found some substantial water holes that will hopefully freeze up with this cold snap.
Due to cold temps and thin cover the groomer will be parked for the next few day.
Trail 300 is still closed between Hatch Corner rd and Meredith wood’s campground due to logging. Please respect land owners.
Finally the Bayview trail is closed behind Seneca Ladd building in order to deter riders from gaining access to Meredith bay. There is little to no ice at this time. Access to Cumberland farms is open for gas.
Trail Report 2/1/23
The groomer set out to work on the west side of town last night. We set out to work areas of 300, through Meredith center and points west as well as twin barns. Lots of water bars are showing but we are doing what we can. Cold temperatures will help but we do need more snow.
Trail report 1/28/23
Our trailmaster was out and about yesterday Friday. Trails are looking great… with the limited snow we have and lack of ground freezing. Watch for water bars. Some riders have been asking, corridor 15 towards center harbor will stay ungroomed for now, but is open. Another rider inquired about the Wanakee trail off of Wicwas. This trail is an ungroomed trail as well but it is open and available to use. This trail will gain you access to bear point in meredith center and our remaining trail system, while primary 300 is closed at chase road. The rail bed, primary 8, from the railroad station to Ashland has been groomed, but take caution. It’s thin in areas and narrow.
Safe riding all! Enjoy the trails!
Trail Report 1-26-23
PLEASE do not ride the trails for the next 24 hours!
Our groomer operators were able to get some portion of the trails groomed during the night last night. But we have highs reaching 40 today.
Please give it time to set up.
