Trails are unfortunately closed. That last storm did a number on the system. If more snow comes, we'll re-open. Until then, jone us at our monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 11th at the Frogrock Tavern at 6:00pm.

It's a bit wet outside. The groomer went out Monday night up the tracks towards Ashland. We are not closing anything just yet but are asking everyone to stay off the trails until we can asses conditions on Friday. The last couple of years March was our snowiest month so there could still be some solid riding ahead of us even if the short term forecast doesn't look promising. Check back for an update later this week!

Groomer was out last night up the tracks and Mug trail. We have a couple days of cold before things warm up and wet weather (not the good type) rolls through. Things are thinning out quite a bit in sun exposed areas. That being said, we'll keep grooming and keep the trails open as long as we can

The last storm dropped upwards of 5 inches of wet snow, replacing anything we may have lost with the warm up. The entire system has been groomed over the last 36 hours with the exception of the rail bed. The tracks are flat and in great shape with minimal exposed rail from the train station up to Ashland.

The entire trail system has been groomed the last 48 hours. Grooming will continue as temperatures permit during this warm-up. Although we are not intending on closing the trails at this time, we ask that everyone please be respectful of property owners and please be gentle on the trails.

Groomer has been out across the bulk of the system twice this week. Railroad tracks are groomed with minimal exposed rail. Not much else to say other than local riding is great right now across the state and you should go take advantage of it!

Groomer was out today and went up the tracks to Ashland, 300 to 104, 303 to Pickerel Pond, out towards Mud Pond, up to Twin Barns and back, and 15 from Waukewan to Prescott Park. We also did a bit more clean up on Logan's Run towards New Hampton. The snow is here so get out and enjoy it tomorrow!

Snow is coming. Trails are open. The groomer is heading back out tonight. We took care of a few down trees across the RR tracks earlier this week and put some work into Logan's Run between Wicwas and Lake Pemi. Huge thank you to the volunteer help on that trail as well. We'll keep working on it over the next week or so since it's now the main access to New Hampton. We tried to groom the RR tracks but the groomer was slipping off the rails, so hopefully after this storm we'll be able to make it up to Ashland. They are rideable and there is exposed rail in places, so be careful. We are looking at a 2-3 day snow event over the holiday weekend. Go ride! We have snow and all surrounding clubs are open and grooming. Go get it while it's here!

          Trail Conditions & Grooming
Over the past 48 hours, we’ve been able to groom most of the system. Current conditions are about a 5 out of 10—the cover is thin, and you will hit rocks, but the trails are still worth riding. Keep in mind that the railroad tracks have exposed rail, making them less than ideal. The good news? A storm rolling in tonight should improve things significantly.

To stay updated on grooming, we’ve partnered with Groomer Tracker. This app lets you see real-time grooming updates, including what's been groomed and when. It’s $10, with half of that going directly to our club—so it benefits everyone! Download it here: https://www.groomertracker.com/. Keep an eye out for a dedicated post about it later this week.

          New Hampton Trail Access
A quick heads-up for those heading to or from New Hampton: Corridor 300 through the campground currently has no access to Pemi Lake. We’ve been unable to reach the new owners, so grooming through that area is not an option. However, you can still get back and forth via Corridor 303—check the map in the post for the alternate route.

Rain happened. Snow is mostly gone unfortunately. Unless we get a large storm or two we'll be sticking a fork in this season. Trails closed.

Trail Report 2-2-24 ~ Pond Hockey Weekend Update

We were out last night all over town getting the system ready for the weekend.

The Good: The RR tracks packed in a bit. We went up without the drag to get a feel for how things looked. 90% is "good" from Waukewan to Ashland. The closer to Ashland the better. Definitely rideable. We are going to try and take the drag up the tracks tonight...this is weather dependant. The rest of the trail system is good/ marginal.

The Bad: We still haven't groomed 300 all the way to the campground due to unfrozen swamps. Mud holes and water bars should be expected everywhere Town Forrest from PhilBrook Ave to Waukewan is not good. It's passable if you don't mind skimming a little mud and running over a few rocks (see photos below)

Lastly, PLEASE be careful on the ice. Meredith Bay is not safe and Winnipesakee has not iced in.

Have fun this weekend and be safe!!

          Trail Report 1-30-20

We received 4-6 inches of wet snow and it finally looks like full on winter out there. Most of the system has been groomed. We still aren't going all the way out 300 towards the campground due to the soft swamp.

The RR tracks still do not have enough cover to groom and we still have not broken open the town forest trail from Prescott Park to Waukewan. We are hoping to get in there before the weekend. There is riding to be had out there right now so go get it!

Trail Report 1/19/24

Here we go! The 2024 snowmobile season is here and our trail system is OPEN. Everything will be groomed 2 passes with the exception of trail 300 from 104 to the campground and the town Forest Trail from Plymouth Street to Waukewan Lake. There is still not enough snow to groom the RR tracks.

300 to the campground will be subject to the pond freezing on the north east side of Campground property. The Bayview Trail, Meetinghouse Trail, and 15 to Coe Hill was all groomed today.

Riding is marginal in some areas and good in others. Still a lot of thin spots and water bars. Photos here show the good, the bad, and the ugly. Consider all bodies of water NOT SAFE to pass at the moment.

We finally received snow! While it was more than anticipated, it was light and not near what we need to kick things off. There's more snow in the forecast so maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to get the groomer out soon. Until then,

Last groomed Tuesday night 3/7, not grooming before the weekend due to minimal coverage to work with, warm days and high sun. Expect spring like conditions with waterbars on Corridor 15 in the Town Forest between Prescott Park and Lake Waukewan. Some rail showing on Corridor 8, the rail bed. Waterbars on Windsong trail between Livingston Road and Pickerel Pond.

          TRAIL CLOSURES:
? Trail 300 by Chase Road is closed for the season.
? Logans Run, an ungroomed, unmaintained trail is closed. Primarily due to a large tree down further up the trail and recent notification from a private landowner alerting us of off trail riding in a large field directly off of Pemi Lake. The off trail riding occuring between Tuesday 3/7 and Wednesday 3/8. At this time the landowner will be considering closing this trail permanently for all future use FYI.

          Cautions:
?Large water hole on the trail heading to Pickerel Pond

With warm day temps yesterday, Sunday, and the remainder of this week forecasted w/warmer day temps, we will attempt to get out and groom in the colder evenings. Expect Spring like conditions with the high sun and warmer day temps.

Trails are open! Mother nature has decided to deliver some snow for March. The groomer has been out and the snow is very fluffy. Coverage is thin. The rail bed is open but there will be exposed rail either direction. We have more snow coming this week and will have an updated report as we roll into the weekend.

Trails closed. The weather the past few days has been...less than ideal. We have more snow in the forecast and will open up as soon as mother nature allows.

          Trail Report 2/3/23

Bruce, our trail master and Jim, our VP, each took a pass up the rail bed to Ashland in hopes of getting things nice and flat for the weekend. Lots of rails showing but they are rideable at the moment. Last night Jim groomed to the meeting house and found some substantial water holes that will hopefully freeze up with this cold snap.

Due to cold temps and thin cover the groomer will be parked for the next few day.

Trail 300 is still closed between Hatch Corner rd and Meredith wood’s campground due to logging. Please respect land owners.

Finally the Bayview trail is closed behind Seneca Ladd building in order to deter riders from gaining access to Meredith bay. There is little to no ice at this time. Access to Cumberland farms is open for gas.

The groomer set out to work on the west side of town last night. We set out to work areas of 300, through Meredith center and points west as well as twin barns. Lots of water bars are showing but we are doing what we can. Cold temperatures will help but we do need more snow.

Our trailmaster was out and about yesterday Friday. Trails are looking great… with the limited snow we have and lack of ground freezing. Watch for water bars. Some riders have been asking, corridor 15 towards center harbor will stay ungroomed for now, but is open. Another rider inquired about the Wanakee trail off of Wicwas. This trail is an ungroomed trail as well but it is open and available to use. This trail will gain you access to bear point in meredith center and our remaining trail system, while primary 300 is closed at chase road. The rail bed, primary 8, from the railroad station to Ashland has been groomed, but take caution. It’s thin in areas and narrow.

We received quite a bit of powdery snow which is enough to get things back open. We will not be grooming just yet but we will reassess early this week. There will be rocks, water bars, ice under the snow, and the tracks on the RR bed will be exposed. The lake has also taken a beating with the warm weather. There's plenty of ice but the shorelines have opened up in many places. We'll have another update in a few days. Have fun and be careful!

We experienced 50+degree temps overnight and pouring rain. That was the nail in the coffin for our trail system. Trails closed until further notice.

There is not much to say. Fool's Spring has arrived, killing our trails. What base we had been building in January has slowly melted to hard ice in February. Trails are still open but ungroomed. You will find SPRING like conditions. Ride safe, take caution, good luck.

Message from our trail master Bruce and groomer operator Jim:
The majority of our trail system was groomed in the past 12 hours (Bruce on the late night shift, Jim on the very early shift) excluding 300 to Meredith Woods, which we thought it was in great shape and did not need to be groomed at this time. We were able to make a trip to Ashland on the rail bed which is in ok shape, some holes and rails showing throughout. Everything is in fairly good shape considering the snow conditions and rain we continue to have. Keep an eye out for waterbars, holes and bare spots as there just isn’t enough snow to make things perfect. Unfortunately we are facing a warm up and expecting heavy traffic this weekend. We will see how things hold up and will groom as temperatures and conditions permit.

After a weekend of heavy traffic, we groomed Corridor 15 toward Center Harbor, the Meetinghouse (Mug) Trail, as well as the Bayview Trail last night. We found lots of large moguls and snow pushed off just about every corner. We will be working this week to get everything back in shape. Hopefully we can get up the railbed (need more snow! as well as through the town forest soon. We are anticipating another busy weekend with the Rotary Fishing Derby. It’s nice to see snowmobiles out and enjoying our trails and supporting our local establishments.

Moderate to good trails. All 100% groomed before the warm up. Last weekend's storm provided a lot of powder which ended up blowing off of any open trail areas (corridor 8, railbed). We are hopeful tomorrow's storm will provide some wet, heavy, good packing snow. In the meantime during this heatwave try to stay off the trails or ride sofly. Let's try to preserve what we have going for us. Colder weather will be setting in at the beginning of the weekend. Safe riding all!

We have groomed our entire trail network 2 times this week. Everything is hard and flat. The railbed (corridor 8) is flat but has exposed rails. Hopefully Saturdays storm will bring us the snow we need. Safe riding, enjoy the trails!

Get your gear out of the closet and dust those sleds off! The riding season in Meredith has begun. The storm left between 6-10 inches of snow followed by a bit of rain before colder temps moved in last night. This is perfect to set the base around the Lakes Region to get this season rolling.

Even though some areas of our trails have been holding up well, the majority of our trails have succumbed to the warm temperatures. At this time all of our trails are closed and we will be closing gates as we can get to them. Please respect our landowners as we would like to keep these trails for the future. Thank you for a great season with a record number of club members, 256!

          Trail update 3-4-21

The seasons not over yet! Our trails have been groomed within the past couple of days, with the exception of the railroad tracks. Trails are in fairly good condition. Some areas are better than others. Keep an eye out for trees blown down as well as a few water bars. We will continue to groom as conditions permit. With warm temperatures expected next week this could be the last weekend of good riding in the Lakes Region.

Tuesday's storm will hopefully set us up for a great base, but in the meantime it provided icy conditions. We have groomed primary 300 towards Meredith Woods, Meredith Center area towards Pickerel Pond, Bear Point towards Lake Winnisquam, and Mud Pond towards Lake Wicwas. We will plan to groom our points north/east, Meeting House trail, Bayview trail, and Corridor 15 for the weekend. Corridor 15 towards Center Harbor (power lines) is currently un-groomable due to lack of snow. Corridor 8, the rail bed is also currently un-groomable due to lack of snow.

          Trail update 2-11-21

Last night the Tucker covered Twin Barns Trail down to Meredith Center (Primary 300) and over to Mud pond as well as Bear pt. Those trails are in fair to good condition. Twin Barns trail is in excellent condition. Trail down to Windsong and Pickerel Pond has snow cover but not really groomable.

** Riders are disobeying signs in Holmes field. Please stay on trail. **

In our return trip we encountered two snowmobile‘s ripping up our freshly groomed trail. With a very thin base that we have, this kind of behavior is not appreciated...

Today, 2/11 we are going to try to get the Tucker over Primary 300 from Flightcraft towards Meredith Woods. We will attempt to do a little bit more grooming before the weekend but more snow is needed.

Still NO grooming on the rail bed at this time. Not enough snow.

Open trails and grooming status has been updated. Everything but the RR tracks are open with thin/early season conditions. The tracks still do

have enough snow on them. The groomer will be out tomorrow to run the last few sections that need some work. The season is finally here so get outside for some throttle therapy. Pray for snow so we can get the last piece of the trail system open!

          Trail Update 2-4-2020

Jim and Bruce brought the tucker into town to prepare the bay view trail and the trail to Cumberland Farms in anticipation of traffic this pond hockey weekend. Unfortunately the snow cover is very thin. There just isn’t much to work with. With that being said our grooming efforts will be very limited until we get more snow. Our trails are open but please use extreme caution as these are early season riding conditions.

As a reminder ATVs are not allowed on our club trails. This includes the Bayview trail (circled in yellow). We have had a couple issues this year already. As always please respect our landowners.

One more note... do not trust any of the lakes or ponds, especially Lake Winnipesaukee, there were areas of open water just a few days ago.

          Trail Update 2-2-2020

After this latest storm we are now officially declaring the trail system

          open

. The groomer will be out starting tomorrow and we will have a more thorough report for the weekend (what trails are groomed and open) after that. Conditons are currently thin and ungroomed but rideable. There is still not enough snow on the RR tracks. Adjacent points north of here did not receive the same snow we did so even if the tracks are manageable in town, they won't be when you head out of here.

Check back before the weekend for the latest update!

          Trail Update 12-23-2020

Groomer went out last night and will be out again today and tonight. We are working on extra large snow banks and packing areas that we can get to.

There are a lot of water bars across the system. We also found a few trees down. We are aware of them and will clean them up as soon as we can. We received word that the railway is no longer "active" so it's technically open for travel BUT the railroad trestle on Winona Rd is not in place yet. If you do go North, you will find minimal snow north of Plymouth. We were in the sweet spot for this last storm.

           Trails are still

          CLOSED.

Let us do our work and hope that this rain turns our base into something very nice that we can all enjoy for the rest of the season.

          Trail Update 12-17-2020

One of the biggest storms in years just rolled through town dumping up to three feet of light fluffy champagne powder. There was minimal wind so we expect this to set up nice over the next few days. We couldn't ask for a better storm to get this season started and can't wait to open the gates to allow everyone to pull their sleds out for the first rip of the season.

That being said, the trail system is

          closed.

There was no base prior to this storm and we need everything to settle. We will have an update in a few days once we get the groomer out to help pack things down.

It looks like snow is in the forecast! We have been working hard to get the trails ready, but we still have much work to do. We will post up when the trails are open right here and on our Facebook page.

The first real ride of the season is something we all look forward to the second we put our sleds away. Coming into this winter I must admit, it was hard to get excited. Winters in the Lakes Region have been inconsistent, and last year may have been one of the hardest. Starting out at the highest of highs with the second largest snow storm on record in NH, followed by it all being completely wiped out in under two weeks. As we all know, last winter was rough. So when I saw there was a big storm coming that was going to hit the southern parts of the lake, I knew it was time to set out to do something I haven’t done (but always wanted to do) in the 20+ years living and snowmobiling in the Lakes Region, snowmobile around the lake.

  Day One

Friday was spent replacing spark plugs in preparation for a two day adventure around Lake Winni. I didn’t take any pictures on Saturday because I wanted to minimize my screen time for the day and enjoy the ride. The chosen route would be Meredith>Wolfeboro>Ossipee>Meredith. I left around noon and headed south towards Winnisquam. From there I traveled through Belmont, Gilmanton, Alton, Barnstead, and New Durham before dark. These trail systems were in fantastic shape, coated in 4+ inches of fresh snow, untouched in many places. If you think you need to go North to find good riding, I can say with confidence you will be pleasantly surprised with the trails and conditions on the southern end of the lake.

When I reached Johnson’s Restaurant the snow really started coming down. I crossed 11 to find minimal to no tracks up past Merrymeeting Lake. What a treat! From the Moose Mountain parking lot I continued up around Lake Wentworth and into downtown Wolfeboro, ending at Garwoods Restaurant. At this point the winds were howling and visibility was quite poor. Day one was in the books! Trip Length – 86.3 Miles

  Day 2

The storm passed and the sun was out…so was the wind. The day started off with breakfast in Wolfeboro at the

Any mention of crossing Lake Winnipesaukee deserves it’s own write up. The ice is mostly “safe” going from bay to bay, it’s also a bit gnarly. Due to high winds, the conditions on the more open areas consist of snow drift after snow drift with smooth/slick glare ice in-between with minimal traction. This means unless you have a fully studded track, accelerating and stopping can be an issue. The snow drifts also hide many pressure ridges that you can’t identify until you get up close to them. If you do venture out, you need to watch your speed or you’re going to have a bad time. I do NOT have any feedback about crossing the Broads. Winnipesaukee is a beast of a lake no matter the time of year, so be extra careful out there.

Continuing the trek north up 26 and 19 to Hobbs, I earned myself a flight of locally crafted beer and salmon tacos. Hobbs is a great spot to ride into. The building is gorgeous with hand scorched wood ceilings, a great bar, and wonderful food. If you haven’t been there, you should definitely add it to the list.

After a delicious lunch, it was time for the second leg of the trip home. The route would be on C15 over the Ossipee Mountains towards Castle In the Clouds. These trails are so much fun, loaded with switchbacks that weave through the mountains. The downhill section offers gorgeous lake and sunset views. It’s a real treat to have this right in our backyard.

I crossed 117 and continued up Moultonborough Neck. Being late Sunday afternoon, the trails started getting a bit bumpy due to high traffic (as expected anywhere on a late Sunday afternoon). Hopping back on Lake Winnipesaukee to finish off the trip was the move at this point.

A trip like this really puts things in perspective. All of the clubs around the lake work independently to keep their section of the system safe and in great riding shape, but everyone is working together so we can keep this sport alive and thriving in NH, and continue supporting local businesses. Ride safe, ride right.

It feels good to ride on trails that you help build! Secretary of the club, Cortland Findlay and Vice President, Jim Findlay, rode out for a quick ride Wednesday evening to reap the reward of all their hard work.

Trails were flat and hard. A great base. While the temps were in the teens which was warmer than what we’ve seen lately, the hard pack trail didn’t provide much lubrication and cooling. Near the end of the quick ride with no ice scratchers, Cortland’s 2015 Polaris Axys Switchback was reaching temps around 175. With limited to no snow in the forecast, ice scratchers are a must to keep your sled and hyfax cool.

To end the quick and dirty shake down ride, they stopped for dinner at the Mug restaurant, conveniently off of the Meeting house trail from downtown Meredith.

Overall Cortland and Jim were surprised with how great the base is considering our snowfall total this year, and how the trails have held up since grooming started this past Monday.
